10 weeks ago I was your average A Level student. I had just finished exams and my only options were to either look for a job to occupy my time, or become a regular couch potato eating, sleeping and internet surfing my life away… (Believe it on not, there’s only so much sitting around doing nothing a person can do and when job hunting isn’t doing any justice things can only get worst.)
Then I found Catch 22!
It started as a chance for me to occupy my time constructively learning about the world of journalism and the media industry. From features meetings, to news reports, sub editing and reviews, now just can’t get enough. Working with people who have the same drive, intentions and optimism as yourself only leads you to bigger and better things and although the course is fast paced, you learn a lot along the way.
Realistically, if you can’t keep up, then maybe journalism isn’t for you, Catch is seriously only the tip of the iceberg.
The course is a chance for young journalist like myself to get a taste of the fast pace media industry, providing us with new skills, and give us the chance to master the ones we already have.
As a member of the Catch 22 Academy I find myself subconsciously on the look out for new stories, whether it be me taking a walking from the office to the station or out on my lunch break with my other colleagues. . .(my personal journalistic birds eye view) Weird I know!
I’ve been schooled on the so called ‘do’s’ and ‘don’t’ of writing, inspired by the graft of hard working tutors such as Mike, Kate, Simmy and Matilda. As well as given the chance to work on my own magazine feature idea.
Every day with Catch 22 is a new experience, the Youtube video that reminds me of catch is Sunshine by Twist ft Anthony Hamilton. It reminds me that although there is alot of hard work and long hours, there will be a positive outcome at the end.
Catch 22 in one word = EXCELLENTLY-INSPIRING-AND-ENGAGING.
